Our People

Our company consists of highly efficient teams of engineering, technical, and drafting personnel across all engineering disciplines, supported by our agile business administration. Our people come from a wide variety of backgrounds and differing experiences, but most have come to GPA from a practical ‘hands on’ operating environment.

We ensure that our staff are experienced in all project phases from concept, and detailed design, to assisting construction, getting plants running and operational, and providing ongoing support.

Qualifications & Certification

The majority of our staff are tertiary trained, professional engineers, with an increasing number of Chartered Engineers. We additionally have experienced technical officers, drafters and site construction supervisors.

GPA staff are encouraged to be members of, and active participants in, industry associations such as: Engineers Australia, Australian Pipeline and Gas Association, Institution of Chemical Engineers, and Institute of Instrument and Controls and Automation Australia.

GPA is a Professional Development Program (PDP) Member with Engineers Australia, and obtaining Chartered Engineer status is a focus for our staff. Approximately 30% of GPA’s engineers are Chartered Professional Engineers (CPEng) or have Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) certification.

Approach & Specialisation

GPA has a very stable workforce with a long term retention rate of at least 97% per year. This includes a significant number of highly experienced engineers, complemented by an average experience level of 15 years, and the regular employment of graduates.

Our goal: to provide a rewarding work experience for staff where they have opportunities to continuously develop.

We are driven to ensure staff engagement and retention is high, because we know that our greatest asset is our people.

We also know that our clients benefit when they can rely upon dealing with consistent people who are highly skilled, motivated, and experienced, and who understand their respective organisations’ cultures, preferences, assets, systems and methods of operating.

Our approach: focus on a smaller number of clients, higher volume of small to medium sized projects, and repeat business.

By focusing on a smaller number of clients and securing staff through a high retention rate, GPA is able to provide people who become very familiar with our clients assets, in addition to their methods of operating. This means that our people can build meaningful relationships and specialise with specific clients, creating further value through the ongoing obtained knowledge.
