International Women in Engineering Day 2024

In recognition of INWED24, it was a pleasure to hear from Principal Process Engineer Shirley as she spoke of her journey from her childhood in South Africa to being one of GPA’s leading engineers and experts. Her passion and determination inspired all, providing sound advice for all pursuing a career in engineering.

Elsewhere, staff from the Adelaide office attended Engineers Australia’s International Women in Engineering Day Breakfast, where they heard from a range of speakers who provided insights into how recruiting and employment processes can be made more equitable, speaking to the day’s theme of “enhanced by engineering”.

In our Queensland office, we have used INWED to launch a new initiative which will see our engineers attend high schools around Brisbane to present on STEM pathways and opportunities for young women in the engineering industry.
