Brian
Bennett
Brian is GPA’s Territory Manager for the Northern Territory. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer and has over 35 years of engineering, project and business management experience across a variety of industries.
After graduating as an Electrical Engineer from University of Tasmania, Brian’s career began with BHP Steel working in heavy industry. This was followed by various roles in manufacturing, electrical fabrication and design, chemical processing, including various engineering roles from detailed design, commissioning, project management, engineering management and operations. After completing an MBA in 2000, Brian joined GPA and has since diversified his skills to include oil and gas, power distribution and generation, and more recently, renewables and new energy.
Brian has been a Senior Engineer & Manager at GPA since 2001 and a Principal Electrical Engineer since 2010. His experience includes Project Management, Maintenance Management, Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), Safety Integrity Assessments, Design, Maintenance Engineering and Maintenance Management. As NT Territory Manager Brian oversees GPA’s operations in the NT, supporting the development of staff and local industry, and liaising with important partners and clients in the Territory.
During Brian’s time at GPA, he has been involved with the development of asset management programs for various clients, including production optimisation, safety, technical risk and maintenance minimisation. Brian also has extensive experience in legislative frameworks nationally and the development of technical standards, safework practices for the design and implementation of a broad range of projects in various industries. Brian is is an experienced HAZOP/CHAZOP facilitator and is a TUV certified functional safety engineer.
