VIVA Geelong Energy Hub Grand Opening
GPA was thrilled to attend the opening ceremony of VIVA Energy’s new Hydrogen Refuelling site at their Geelong Energy Hub.
The Geelong Energy Hub has been an ongoing project by Viva and supported by engineering partners including GPA. The facility is representative of the ambition of Viva and its partners to facilitate the energy transition with real world solutions. The Geelong Energy Hub (GEH), which generates hydrogen on site via a 2.5MW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser, is capable of producing approximately 1,000kg of gaseous hydrogen per day, using renewable energy and recycled water. It is a ‘first of type’ facility built on a commercial scale and open to the public.
Our own Senior Mechanical Engineer, Raffaele Ceravolo, played a critical role on the project team and we were pleased to have him in attendance as the project was officially opened:
“It’s always amazing to see a project you’ve worked on come to life, particularly when it’s an Australian first project that will shape the future of the Australian energy and transport industry. It’s an honour to have been a part of the GPA team that helped deliver this project.”

VIVA’s Geelong Energy Hub is representative of the shared ambition to facilitate the energy transition with real world solutions.
