Safety Control System Design and Construct

GPA were engaged to design, fabricate, supply and commission a safety control system for incorporation into a larger project. GPA was responsible for the Functional Safety; risk assessment, specification and verification in order to ensure the safety system complied with Australian Standard AS/NZS 61508.

Additionally, GPA completed all electrical design, control system programming, HMI programming, hardware procurement and system testing. Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) was considered at all stages of the design in order to protect the control system from radio frequencies. The completed control system successfully achieved compliance with Military Standard MIL-STD-461G for conducted susceptibility (CS114) and radiated susceptibility (RS113) between 2MHz and 18GHz as verified by an independent EMI testing laboratory.

GPA’s multiple discipline team completed the functional safety lifecycle, electrical design, control system programming, hardware procurement, control system fabrication, system testing and verification on a compressed schedule, delivering the final safety system on time and on budget.
