Senex

Mimas Compression Facility

Following the successful delivery of Senex’s Roma North and Jemena’s Atlas Compression Station in the Surat Basin, GPA was engaged once again by Senex to deliver their Mimas Compression Facility—the design of which was based heavily on the successful Roma North facility.

To align with Senex’s commitment to Net Zero, the design was electrified by specifying electric-driven engines for gas compression and integrating an off-site power station. The design change provided Senex with a future option to power the facility using renewable power.

GPA’s scope included:

  • Front-end engineering design to evaluate the feasibility of electrifying the existing Roma North design to include electric-driven compressors.
  • Detailed design of the new Mimas Compression Facility, including a buried slug catcher, water transfer skid, sales gas export skid, and control system to enable remote operation.
  • Specification and integration of low-pressure screw compressors, high-pressure reciprocating compressors, a TEG dehydration package, and an enclosed ground flare.
  • Specification and integration of an off-site power station supplying high-voltage electricity to the facility; this included completing an arc flash risk assessment for the facility.
  • Ongoing operational support of the Mimas control system.
  • Project finalisation and design modification based on feedback from Senex.
  • Site-based construction and procurement support.

Design of facility’s PLC and SCADA control systems including:

  • Supplying Allen-Bradley PLC hardware for BoP PLC and SIL-rated PLC hardware or Safety-critical systems
  • Functional Description & Cause and Effect creation of Facility’s Balance of Plant (BoP) and Safety control system
  • Supplying Allen-Bradley PLC hardware for BoP PLC and SIL-rated PLC hardware or Safety-critical systems
  • Integration of other Vendor Packages and PLCs with BoP PLC control system and SCADA using various communication protocols such as Modbus (TCP & RTU), IEC 61850, EtherNet/IP (CIP) and HART
  • From scratch development and configuration of SCADA Controls System, including SCADA Standards Documentation
  • Creation of FAT and SAT documentation
  • Setup and design of Ethernet networks for Operational Technology (OT) and Camera Systems (CCTV)
  • On-site control engineering support to assist with pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks
