Funding Support
GPA has extensive experience supporting Federal funding applications for green hydrogen and renewable energy projects. GPA has provided technical, engineering, and advisory services to clients seeking funding through multiple Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) programs, including Hydrogen Headstart Round 1 and Round 2, the Hydrogen Research and Development Funding Round, and the Renewable Hydrogen Deployment Funding Round.
In addition to supporting funding applications, GPA has been engaged to provide independent review and certification services, confirming project compliance with ARENA funding agreements and milestone requirements.
Below is a selection of projects where GPA has directly supported ARENA funding applications, milestone reporting, and project delivery.
Treasury Wine Estates: Barossa Decarbonisation Project
GPA is supporting Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) in their formal funding application to ARENA’s National Industrial Transformation Program by delivering the biogas component of a broader decarbonisation initiative at TWE’s Barossa Valley facility.
The project aims to reduce reliance on LPG and diesel by reusing biogas generated from the site’s wastewater treatment process. GPA is responsible for reviewing and updating the initial EOI submission, conducting a comprehensive desktop risk assessment, preparing a project execution plan, and developing both a FEED and high-level design proposal.
The high-level design proposal will outline the integration strategy, equipment selection, layout concepts, and preliminary cost estimates, enabling TWE to demonstrate project feasibility, readiness for execution, and alignment with ARENA’s decarbonisation objectives.
Jemena: Western Sydney Green Gas Project
GPA were engaged by Jemena to support the delivery of Australia’s first green hydrogen demonstration and network blending project.
GPA provided detailed design, balance of plant integration, approvals management and assistance to meet key ARENA and other project milestones.
On completion of detailed design, GPA provided independent certification of the project construction to ARENA, for which ARENA confirmed GPA was suitably independent to provide certification despite our completion of the detailed design.
AGIG: Murray Valley Renewable Hydrogen Project
GPA delivered the pre-FEED and FEED for AGIG, including an AACE Class 4/3 CAPEX and other inputs to AGIG’s ARENA funding application. On successfully achieving ARENA funding, AGIG then engaged GPA to complete the detailed design. This is nearing completion with construction works having commenced on site.
Horizon Power: Denham Microgrid Demonstration Project
GPA acted as Owner’s Engineer for the successful delivery of this project as well as providing independent certification services to ensure compliance with ARENA’s funding agreement requirements.
ReNu Energy: Goulburn Bioenergy Project
In addition to delivery of engineering design for the project, GPA provided Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) services in the form of greenhouse gas calculations and an energy balance to fulfill ARENA’s funding requirements.
APA & Woodside Energy: Badgingarra TIC Estimate
GPA were engaged to develop a Total Installed Cost (TIC) estimate for the Badgingarra Green Hydrogen Facility. This estimate was required for pre-ARENA submission purposes and was classified under AACE Class 5 for CAPEX (Capital Expenditure).
Origin: Mortlake BESS
GPA are acting as the independent certifier for Origin for the Mortlake BESS, to support ARENA funding. GPA will work with ARENA and Origin to assess if the project meets the timeline in the allocated budget.
