Project Caymus Aviation Fuel Farm
GPA was engaged to provide construction, handover and commissioning support to Project Caymus – Aviation Fuel Farm in the Northern Territory. The following services were provided:
Construction Activities:
- Oversight of Construction resources onsite
- Preparation of Workpacks focused on systemised handover of the Facility.
- Defect resolution of Technical Queries and Non-Conformances
- Coordinating timely handover of systems critical for Energisation
Pre-Commissioning Activities:
- Review and validation of the system completion
- Preparation of pre-commissioning checklists.
- Coordination with construction teams to ensure punchlist resolution
- Delivery of System handover to Commissioning.
Commissioning Support:
- Overseeing Pigging activities onsite
- Ensuring Piping Cleanliness and Hygiene for First Fill
- Functional testing of systems and components.
- Verification of system performance against design specifications.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of any issues identified during Commissioning.
Post-Commissioning Activities:
- As-built documentation updates.
- Completion of Pre-Start Safety Review
- Development of Maintenance Strategies for Ongoing Operations
- Handover to operations team
GPA delivered the project ensuring continuity and responsive resourcing during a critical transition. The work met the clients stretch target for First Fuel Readiness, and was supported by proactive engineering and defect resolution.
Key lessons from the project included the engagement of solution focused teams, flexibility in construction and completions schedules, and building client /constructor teams with common goals. Reinforcing safety leadership through pre-start workshops and enhancing reporting with predictive analytics were also identified as opportunities for future improvement.
By combining handover expertise with robust governance and clear communication, GPA delivered project objectives on time and to expectations, demonstrating capability to manage complex infrastructure projects with precision and reliability.
